Aoife Clark Eventing – A successful Somerford Park

Somerford is one of my favourite events of the year and has certainly been a happy hunting ground, with Vaguely North winning the CIC** there last year, and Fernhill Adventure completing a hat-trick of wins this year, taking home his third O/I in a row! Not to mention Wasting Light finishing second in his O/I on a dressage score of 25, and my own Rienroe Lucky Ranger finishing 4th in a competitive Intermediate.  A good day out!

The cross-country is always beautifully presented, with educational and challenging fences which are also inviting to a younger horse. The whole organisation is superb, with excellent prizes and it is a great day out for my owners. I really can’t praise it highly enough, and that’s not just after having a good day!

The only one not to come home in the ribbons was Niff Mason’s Kiwi who is still very green at Novice level. He tripped up the step at fence 5 and couldn’t make the c element, and without an alternative I couldn’t get back to have another go so pulled him up for another day.  It was a real shame as he is such an honest and brave little horse, but I don’t blame him at all as it was just a genuine mistake.

My other three rides were all superb, all with 20’s dressage scores, and fast double clears to come 1st, 2nd and 4th. Millstreet is the next stop for them so hopefully the good form continues.
