What Mary Has to Say – April 2022

Dear all,

Having been away in March it’s great to be back eventing again! I haven’t got off to the best of starts though – King Louis has been a bit lame (better now) so is missing the first couple of events, I was ill with Covid, and Bovington Horse Trials next weekend has been cancelled (lack of entries). Roll on Bicton in 2 weeks time, where hopefully I will have 3 horses running!!

It seemed wrong that I had such an amazing few weeks away with the war on the other side of the world turning people’s lives upside down. I’m thrilled British Eventing have been so proactive in supporting the equine disaster the conflict has caused.

Helping crew on an Outremer 51 through the Panama Canal, then jumping ship to an Allure 44 for the Pacific crossing to Galapagos was a wonderful experience. The white horses on the 7 day ocean crossing and the sea horses in Galapagos were my only connection to home!! If you are lucky enough to visit Galapagos’s ‘once in a lifetime’ experience, I highly recommend for you to use Rebecca Adventure Travels.

While I was away the ground went from wet to hard. I’m sure it will rain plenty soon so I can get on to the rough winter paddocks with my Logic roller. My lorry was plated while I was away, generator mended and as always its lovely to feel extra safe when traveling to competitions knowing I have the support of Equine Rescue Services – a wonderful company that offers a National 24hr breakdown and recovery service.

Badminton Horse Trials is less than 4 weeks away. Emily, my daughter, is riding Valmy Biats…..wish I was riding there too!!! But I’ll be there for the duration supporting Emily, so if there is anything I can do for you there please do let me know.

Best wishes
