Bucas has developed a new range of Eco-friendly Turnout rugs, combining great Bucas quality and design, with the use of recycled materials.

All fabrics – outer, insulation, lining, straps and binding are made using recycled fibres!

The Turnout comes with all the great features you would expect from Bucas with the peace of mind that your rug has been made responsibly and ecologically.

The outer is a 600D Ripstop and made from recycled plastic bottles. Our Silk-feel lining = is made from recycled materials. The Bucas insulation has been manufactured using recycled fibres for the past number of years and is available with 100g or 300g insulation.

Binding & straps like the front strap and cross surcingles are all made from recycled fibres. T-bar front closure with Snap-lock magnetic fastening and shoulder darts means a great fit and the option of a separate Neck adds super functionality to this eco-friendly rug!

Machine Washable at 30°, always follow the Bucas Wash & Care Guidelines and only use Bucas Rug Re-conditioner and Bucas Rug Wash.

Parts of the rug are made from recycled plastic bottles and other recycled materials that are crushed and spun into a weave to create the fabric.

Silk-feel
Silk-feel lining is smooth against your horse’s skin and helps keep the coat in good condition.
Ripstop Outer
Ripstop is the pattern of the weave that makes the material less prone to tearing. This weave helps prevent any rips that do occur from spreading through the material.
Layering System
Layer system means that this rug can be used with other Bucas rugs as to double up the insulation with the combination of the rugs together.
Shoulder Darts
Shoulder Darts helps to give your horse a more tailored fit across the chest and shoulder area. These are a signature design feature from Bucas.
Snap-lock
Snap-lock magnetic closure help keep you Bucas rug secure on your horse. It eliminates the use of Hook & Loop closures on the chest making it a more comfortable fit for your horse.
Fillet String
Fillet string prevents our rug from flipping up your horses back while they relax in their field. It also helps to secure your rug on our horse.

Which Bucas lining is best?

The best lining for your horse would be very dependent on the purpose of the rug that you chose and of course your own personal preference.

Silk-feel lining – Helps to prevent friction and leaves the horse’s coat silky smooth.

This is a silky lining against your horse’s coat helping to reduce friction against the horse’s coat and the rug.

This lining is used in turnout rugs and stable rugs and is great for horses who don’t like fleece linings constantly against their skin.

Which Bucas lining is best?

The best lining for your horse would be dependent on the purpose of the rug and your own personal preference.

All of the Bucas Linings come with their pros, so it really does depend on the purpose of the rug and whether it will work in a convenient way for you and your horse’s needs.

How do I know what size rug to buy?

I have an old Bucas blanket that needs new surcingle’s / front strap / buckle etc. How can I repair my rug?

Bucas does not offer a repair service. However, Bucas repair parts and repair kits are available from Bucas retailers. You will need to provide the retailer with label details from inside the rug, size of the rug and colour to insure you order the correct parts.

Is the Bucas Therapy a magnetic rug?

The Bucas therapy rug it is not a magnetic rug; it is made from an extremely fine stainless-steel mesh that reflects the magnetic fields naturally occurring within the body.

The Therapy fabric will not work on a non living being, it can only work on an animal/species with a circulation system.

For this reason the therapy fabric and range from Bucas is considered one of the most non invasive therapy treatments available to you and your horse as it works directly with the horse’s system.

Which weight rug should I chose?

All Bucas turnout rugs have a recommended temperature guide to help customers select the right rug for their requirements. When rugging your horse, you should take into consideration variable factors such as wind, humidity, shelter, age of horse, clipped/unclipped horse.

Bucas rugs range from 0g – 400g.

All of the above Temperature Ranges are “recommendations”. Actual range depends on many factors, like if your horses is clipped or unclipped, sunshine, humidity, wind, your horse’s activity and your horse’s natural body temperature (higher or lower then an average horse).

What is the difference between the Bucas flysheets?

The Buzz-Off and Sweet-itch ranges are available in blue/ silver, which reflects the sun and keeps the horse cool. And Zebra stripe, which has been proven to deter flies.
